Walk Through 4028

16 12 2009

It was quite a few years ago now that I first found myself on Ark Ave. At one of the infamous block “yard barfs,” I believe. And it felt like home. Now, three years later, I find myself at 4028 as the newest steward of this neat-o place. Oh, lots and lots of work ahead. Headaches, yes. Frustrations, definitely. But hopefully a lot of good times and memories to cherish as well. MKW and I did a walk through of 4028 on 30 November 2009, the night before I closed. Most assuredly, this will be the emptiest the house will EVER be…

First floor rec room, looking toward the glass block at the front of the house. Note the fabulous seventies paneling. Did that stuff ever look good?

Toward the back of the rec room. Art Moderne meets Stripper Poles. I'm seeing a bar in the left corner under the funkadelic canister spotlight.

Stairs leading to the second floor (and darkness beyond). My kinda spooky!

"Fame! I'm gonna live forever; I'm gonna learn how to fly...HIGH!" Okay, so what exactly did they use this room for?

Many a good meal (and bottle of wine) will be shard here...

And wine glasses here (and in my hand)...

Kitchen, kitchen, kitchen! Cook, cook, cook! Yum, yum, yum!

Little bedroom. Big colors

God is in the details...

But definitely NOT in the bathroom. I actually think the Devil is in the toilet...

Oh yes, more color. And to think, I've spent the last 5 years painting my last place various shades, only to come here and want everything white. The Divine does have a sense of humor...

Did I mention the colors? This will, someday, be the Sanctus Sanctorum...

White, finally. Okay, actually more of a dingy gray-yellow.

Night magic. From the bedroom window.

"There is a Devil, of that I have no doubt. But is he trying to get in us, or is he trying to get out?" Makes me wonder about the true reason for these bars...
